Oil level in Haldex clutch, checking or changing oil





Special tools and workshop equipment required
^ VAG1331 torque wrench
^ VAG 1 551 Scan Tool (ST)
^ VAG 1 551 /3A adapter
^ VAG1628 hand pressure gun
^ Heavy duty oil for Haldex clutch
^ Amount: 0.25 L - Part number G 052 175 A1

- Switch ignition off.
- Connect vehicle diagnostic, measuring and information system VAS5051 using diagnostic cable VAS5051/1. Alternatively, VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST) can be connected using diagnostic cable VAG1551/3.

Notes: The diagnostic connector is located in knee bar, front left.

WARNING!: During measurement and test drives, measuring and information system VAS 5051 or VAG1551 must always be fastened to and operated from the rear seat Observe safety information

- Select address word 22 for "AWD Electronics" with ignition switched on.
- Press buttons - O - and -8- to select "Read Measuring Value Block" function 08 and select display group number 002.

If the temperature is not displayed, select display group number 001.
Indicated on display
The third display field displays the oil temperature.
^ The oil temperature must be 20 - 400°C





- The oil temperature can be reached via a warm - up drive.
- To check oil level, unscrew oil filler plug (arrow).
- The oil level is correct when the Haldex clutch is filled to the lower edge of checking hole or a minimum of approximately 3 mm below lower edge of checking hole.
- If the oil level is not correct, Haldex clutch oil must be changed.
- Install oil filler plug (arrow).

Tightening torque
Oil filler plug 30 Nm

- Switch ignition off.
- Connect vehicle diagnostic, measuring and information system VAS5051 using diagnostic cable VAS5051/1. Alternatively, VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST) can be connected using diagnostic cable VAG 1551/3.

Notes: The diagnostic connector is located in knee bar, front left.

WARNING!:
^ During measurement and test drives, measuring and information system VAS 5051 or VAG1551 must a/ways be fastened to and operated from the rear seat
^ Observe safety measures


- Select address word 22 for "AWD Electronics" with ignition switched on.
- Press buttons - O - and -8- to select "Read Measuring Value Block" function 08 and select display group number 002.





- If the temperature is not displayed, select display group number 001.
Indicated on display
The third display field displays the oil temperature.
- The oil temperature must be 20-40° C
- The oil temperature can be reached via a warm - up drive.





- Place drip tray underneath.
- Remove oil drain plug -1- from bottom of housing and drain oil completely.
- Insert 0.25 liter oil cartridge into VAG1628 hand pressure gun.
- Refit drain plug and tighten to 15 Nm.
- Have drain plug with new sealing ring ready.





- Insert 1628 hand pressure gun vertically into drain hole (arrow).
- Completely pump oil into Haldex clutch.
- Remove VAG1628 hand pressure gun and immediately thread in drain plug with new sealing washer.

Tightening torques
Oil drain plug 15 Nm
