Overview





1 - Phillips - head screw
2 - Brake disc
3 - Protective cap
- Replace each time after removing
- Cap must be replaced to ensure proper sealing. This is important for optimum function and long service life

4 - Self - locking 12 - point nut
- Tighten to 220 Nm
- Replace each time after removing
5 - Wheel hub with wheel bearings
- The wheel bearing and wheel hub are installed together in a housing.
- This wheel bearing/hub unit is maintenance and adjustment free. Adjusting and servicing is not possible!

6 - Axle beam
7 - Brake caliper
- Servicing; Refer to Brakes and traction control

8 - Stub axle
- Straightening operations are not permitted
- Recutting thread is not permitted

Special tools and equipment





- 3420 Assembly tool





- Kukko 20/2 and Kukko 204/2

Removal and Installation





Removing protective cap
- Loosen cap from its seat by tapping lightly on claw.





Levering off protective cap





Removing brake caliper
- Remove securing bolts - A - from brake caliper.
- Remove brake caliper and hang up on body.
- Remove Phillips - head screw for brake disc and take off brake disc.
- Remove 12 - point nut.





Pulling off wheel bearing/wheel hub unit
A- Puller with leg clamp, e.g. Kukko 20/ 2





Pulling bearing inner race off stub axle
Only use puller with leg clamp e.g. Kukko 204/ - 2 (commercial type).





Pulling wheel bearing/wheel hub unit onto stub axle
- Install wheel bearing/wheel hub unit as far as possible onto stub axle.
- Attach special tool 3420 and pull wheel bearing/wheel hub unit on onto stop.





- Remove special tool 3420.
- Use new 12 - point nut and tighten to 220 Nm.





Driving in protective cap

Notes:
^ Always replace damaged (dented) caps.
^ Damaged (dented) caps allow ingress of moisture, therefore always use the tool illustrated.

Further installation is performed in reverse order.
Tightening torques:
Brake caliper to rear axle 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.)
