O-Rings In Rear Final Drive, Replacing (Final Drive Removed)

O - ring for Haldex/drive pinion housing (final drive removed), replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required





^ VW 309 Holding plate
^ VW 353 Transmission support (modifying, Refer to Differential Assembly, Service and Repair.
^ VAG 1331 Torque wrench





- Clamp rear final drive to repair stand.





- Now remove all the securing nuts for the drive pinion housing (arrows).

Notes: The illustration only shows 3 of the nuts.





- Remove drive pinion housing, when doing this screw hexagon bolts - A - in evenly so that the housing does not cant.





- Then remove O - ring - A -.

Installing





Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, when doing this note the following:
- Lubricate O - ring - A - with transmission oil and install.
- Insert shim(s) - B - of same thickness again.
- Checking transmission oil in rear final drive.
- Filling up oil in Haldex coupling.

Tightening torque
Drive pinion housing to rear axle housing tightening torque: 45 Nm
