Driveshaft Flange Oil Seal Final Drive (Final Drive Removed).

Driveshaft flange oil seal on rear final drive (final drive removed), replacing





Special tools and workshop equipment required
^ VW 309 Holding plate
^ VW 353 Transmission support (modifications, Refer to Differential Assembly, Service and Repair.
^ 2004 Transmission holder
^ VW 681 Extractor
^ T10019 Press piece
^ VAG1601 Torque wrench
^ Drip tray

Removing





- Secure rear final drive to mounting block.
- Place drip tray under final drive.





- Remove driveshaft flange hexagon nut.
A- Hexagon bolts M 8 x 20

Notes: When loosening driveshaft flange hexagon nut counter - hold using pipe - C - with special tool 2004 (2nd technician).





- Pull off driveshaft flange. If the flange does not come off easily, use three - arm puller, e.g. Kukko 12 -1.
- Pull seal out with removal tool VW 681.

Installing





- Drive new oil seal in flush.
- Fill space between sealing lip and dust lip with multipurpose grease G052 128 A1.
- Install driveshaft flange.





- Apply locking fluid D 000 600 to new hexagon nut and tighten to 220 Nm.
A- Hexagon bolts M 8 x 20

Notes: When tightening driveshaft flange centralizing nut counter hold using pipe - C - with special tool 2004 (2nd technician).

- Installing final drive.
- Top - up oil in Haldex coupling.
