Master cylinder, removing and installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required





^ 3309 Release tool





^ 10 208 A Pliers

Removing





- Loosen hose clamp -4- and pull intake hose as well as connector -1- from mass airflow sensor.
- Remove hose -5- from air filter housing.





- Then remove complete air filter housing by removing bolts -2- and - 3 -.
- Pull off supply hose - A - to brake fluid reservoir and seal.
- Pull clip - B - for pipe/hose assembly out of master cylinder.
- Pull pipe/hose assembly - C - out from master cylinder and seal.





- Remove driver's storage compartment:
- Unbolt clutch pedal mounting bracket (complete) as follows:
- Remove connecting plate - A - first (arrows 1).
- If installed, disconnect cruise control switch.
- Then remove securing nuts (arrows 2) for mounting bracket - B -





- Take off mounting bracket.
- Separate master cylinder operating rod from clutch pedal as follows:
- Insert release tool 3309 in the clutch pedal cut - outs (arrow A). The inscription "top/open" (B) points away from clutch pedal.
- With pliers 10 208A positioned in the recesses (arrow C), press the release tool together.





- Turn stop - A - for clutch pedal in direction of arrow and remove.





- Then press master cylinder in direction of arrow -
1. to stop first. It must not be covered in upper area by over - center spring mounting (arrow 2).
- Then swing it in direction of arrow 3 out of mounting bracket.

Installing





Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, when doing this note the following:
- The retainer - A - must be fitted to the master cylinder operating rod - B -.
- Press clutch pedal in direction of arrow to engage. Ensure correctly located.





- Fit stop - A - for clutch pedal.
Installation position:
The arm (arrow) points toward master cylinder - B -.
- Bleeding clutch system after installing master cylinder, Refer to Clutch, M/T, Service and Repair.
