Master cylinder, removing and installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required

^ 10 208 A Pliers
Removing
- Release hose clamp -4- and disconnect intake hose and electrical connector - 1 from air mass meter.
- Remove hose -5- from air filter housing.
- Unscrew bolts -2- and - 3 -, then remove air cleaner housing (complete).
- Pull off supply hose - A - to brake fluid reservoir and close off the end.
- Pull clip - B - for pipe/hose assembly out of master cylinder.
- Pull pipe/hose assembly - C - out of master cylinder and close off end of pipe/hose assembly.
- Remove driver's side lower cover.
Unbolt clutch pedal mounting bracket (complete) as follows:
- Remove securing nuts (arrows 1) and take off connecting plate (arrow - A -).
- Remove securing nuts (arrows 2) for mounting bracket - B -.
- Take off mounting bracket.
- Separate master cylinder operating rod from clutch pedal as follows:
- Insert release tool 3309 in the clutch pedal cut - outs (arrow A). The inscription "top/oben" (B) points away from clutch pedal.
- Turn stop - A - for clutch pedal in direction of arrow and remove.
- Then push slave cylinder in direction of arrow 1 onto stop.
- The top of the slave cylinder must not be covered by the over - center spring mounting (arrow 2).
- Then swing slave cylinder in direction of arrow 3 out of mounting bracket.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence. When doing this, note the following:
- The retainer - A - must be fitted to the master cylinder operating rod - B -.
- Press clutch pedal in direction of arrow to engage. Make sure it is correctly located.
- Reinstall stop - A - for clutch pedal.
Installation position:
The arm (arrow) points toward master cylinder - B -.
- After installing master cylinder, bleed the clutch system, Refer to Clutch, MT, Service and Repair.
- Install complete air filter housing.
