Special Tools and Equipment

Test sequence
TT Coupe:
^ Remove rear seat bench.
TT Roadster:
^ Remove the rear panel side trim.
All:
^ Unscrew cover-1- at right (arrows).
^ Disengage 4-pin electrical harness connector and remove (arrow).
Vehicles up to 05.02
^ Connect multimeter between terminal 2 and 3 for resistance measurement.
^ For measured value 0 Ohms there is a short circuit
^ For measured value ??? Ohms there is an open circuit.
Note:
^ To check resistance values "tank full" or "tank empty" Fuel Pump (FP) must be removed and the sensor float must be placed in the upper or lower end position.
^ When removed, both senders are measured individually.
With sender for fuel gauge or fuel level sensor removed, the following values will result due to the longer reach of the float arm:
Vehicles as of 05.02
^ Connect multimeter between terminal 2 and 3 for resistance measurement.
^ For measured value 0 Ohms there is a short circuit
^ For measured value ??? Ohms there is an open circuit.
Note:
