^ Cut off nozzle on tube at front marking (nozzle diameter approximately 3 mm).
^ Thickness of sealant bead: 2 - 3 mm
Notes: The bead of sealant must not be thicker than 3 mm, otherwise excess sealant will enter the sump and obstruct the strainer in the oil intake pipe.
^ Apply silicone sealant to the clean sealing surface on the sump as illustrated. The illustration shows the position of the sealant bead on the cylinder block.
^ Apply the sealant bead with particular care around the rear sealing flange - arrows -.
^ Fit the sump immediately and bolt to cylinder block. Start by tightening all the bolts by hand.
^ Tighten the 3 bolts securing sump to gearbox.
^ Tighten bolts securing sump to cylinder block in two stages in diagonal sequence.
Tightening torques
Notes:
^ When installing the sump with the engine out of the vehicle, ensure that the sump is flush with the cylinder block at the flywheel end.
^ After installing the sump, wait for about 30 minutes for the sealant to dry before puffing in engine oil.
