Rear brake caliper piston, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment





^ 3272 Piston compressing and extracting tool





^ 3409 Removal wedge
^ Bleeder container

Removing





^ Apply special tool 3272 together with 3272/1 to piston on brake caliper housing.
^ Screw piston out of brake caliper housing by turning the knurled wheel counter-clockwise.

Note: If piston is stiff, use a 13 mm open-ended wrench to be applied at appropriate flats (arrow).





^ Remove seal using wedge 3409.

Installing
^ The surface of the piston and seal must be cleaned with methylated spirits and then dried.
^ Thinly coat piston and seal with assembly paste G 052 150 A2 before inserting.
^ Insert oil seal in brake caliper housing.





^ Place protective seal with the outer sealing lip on the piston.





^ Using wedge 3409, insert the inner sealing lip into the grove in the cylinder.

Note: When doing this hold piston in front of caliper housing.





^ Apply special tool 3272 together with 3272/1 to piston on brake caliper housing.
^ Screw piston into housing by turning knurled wheel clockwise.

Note: Adjusting piston with a normal resetting tool destroys automatic adjuster in brake caliper.

^ Install brake pads.

Pre-bleeding brake caliper





^ Open bleeder screw (arrow -A-)and use a standard bleeder bottle to fill with brake fluid until bubble-free brake fluid flows from the threaded hole (arrow -B-) (brake hose connection). Close bleeder screw.

Note: Position brake caliper as illustrated to pre-bleed.
