Wiper Blade Contact Angle, Adjusting




Possible causes for wiper blades skipping:
- Windshield is scratched
- Wiper blade rubber has become detached from arm or is split
- Wiper arm or blade is loose or bent
- Wiper blades are coated with wax or road grime

If the wiper blades are skipping and none of the causes listed apply, check and, if necessary, adjust the angle of the wiper arms relative to the windshield before installing new wiper blades.

Required special tools and test equipment

3358 B windshield wiper adjuster

Checking wiper arm angle
- Move wiper arms to park position.
- Remove wiper blades.







- Insert wiper arm -2- into windshield wiper adjuster 3358 B and secure with locking screw -3-.
- Compare actual angle with specifications.

Specifications for wiper arm angle
- Driver's side: -9°
- Passenger's side: -5 °
- Tolerance: ±0°

Adjusting wiper arms
- Move wiper arms to park position.
- Remove wiper blade.







- Insert wiper arm -2- into windshield wiper adjuster special tool 3358 B and secure with locking screw -3-.
- Adjust wiper arm to specified angle using a 24 mm wrench -1- as shown (arrows).
- Loosen locking screw -3- and remove wiper arm from adjuster tool.
- Re-install wiper arm -2- in adjuster tool 3358 B, tighten locking screw again and recheck angle.
- Compare indicated angle with specified value.
- If necessary repeat procedure until angle is as specified.
- Remove adjustment tool and install wiper blade.
