Triple roller joint, disassembling and assembling
Disassembling
^ Remove cap by knocking out.

Note:
^ Use old bolt to knock out
^ Hold shaft at approximately 20° for this

Use plastic mallet and 3110 press support





^ Remove any shavings in the area of the cover
^ Open large clamp.
^ Open small clamp at shaft and slide back CV boot.





^ Mark installation position of parts 1 through 3 with lines.

If they are not marked and are not re-installed in their previously installed positions, noises may occur later during driving operation.
A water-proof felt pen is well-suited for marking.
^ Remove round seal (arrow) from groove.

3. Drive axle





^ Remove securing ring.
1. Pliers (commercially available)





^ Pull triple roller connection off drive axle. Use standard puller, e.g. 12/1 Kukko (arrow)
^ Remove grease in groove for sealing ring and at splines of shaft
^ Check rollers and track for wear.
^ Clean shaft and housing

Assembling
^ Slide small clamp for CV boot onto shaft.
^ Slide new CV boot onto shaft.
^ Slide joint piece onto shaft.
^ Slide CV boot onto joint piece.

Mount triple roller connection.
Chamfer (arrow) on connection faces toward shaft, it facilitates assembly.





^ Place triple roller connections on shaft according to markings and drive on until impact.
^ Insert securing ring, be sure to fit properly.
^ Press 70 grams of G 000 605 drive axle grease from repair kit into triple roller joint.
^ Slide joint piece over rollers.

Note: Be sure that CV boot does not get twisted during this.

^ Press 70 grams of G 000 605 drive axle grease from repair kit into back of triple roller joint.





^ Clean groove for sealing ring.
^ Insert sealing ring into groove -1-

For the sake of illustration, individual parts are shown removed.
1. Snap ring
2. Cover from repair kit
3. Sealing ring
4. Triple roller joint

^ Insert drive axle in vise.





^ Lightly press on cover -1- from repair kit so that securing ring from repair kit can be inserted.
^ Insert securing ring from repair kit below entire circumference of engaging groove.

Note: Make sure securing ring engages audibly.





^ Position joint piece in center. Position see min - max position

Note: Vent CV boo~ e.g. using a screwdriver, while positioning joint piece in center position (arrow).





^ Mount clamp. refer to Fig. 5

Note: Position crimping tab -2- of clamp between mounting flanges -1- of joint piece. This will facilitate threading socket head bolts during installation of drive axle





^ Tighten small clamp using VAG1275 pliers.
