Oil seals for flange shafts, replacing
Special tools and equipment





^ 2062 Driver

^ Observe general repair notes
Rear final drive installed

Note: All illustrations show the /left side of the final drive. Removing and installing joint flange and oil seal on right side is identical

Removing drive shaft





^ Remove heat shields at drive flange (arrows).
^ Place drip tray underneath.
^ Disconnect drive axle.
^ To loosen securing bolt, thread in 2 bolts into drive flange and counter hold with fire iron.
^ Pry out O-ring with tire iron.

Installing drive shaft
installation is reverse of removal, noting the following:
^ Lubricate area between sealing lip and dust lip with a thin layer of multi-purpose grease.
^ Lightly oil outer circumference of seal.





^ Drive in new seal to stop, without canting seal.
^ Top off transmission fluid in rear final drive and check oil level.





Tightening torques
Drive flange to final drive 25 Nm
Drive shaft to drive flange 40 Nm
Heat shields to final drive 25 Nm
