Sealing ring for right drive flange, replacing
Special tools and equipment





^ VW681 Extractor lever





^ 3382 Right sealing ring installer

Removing
^ Remove right front wheel
^ Remove heat shield for right drive axle.
^ Remove right drive axle





^ Remove central bolt of right drive flange (arrow), while securing drive flange against turning using mandrel.
^ Place oil pan underneath.
^ Remove right drive flange.





^ Remove drive flange seal using VW681 extractor lever.

Installing

Note:
^ The open side of the seal faces the transmission.
^ Coat outer edge and sealing lip of seal with transmission oil or a thin layer of Vaseline.





^ Push in right drive flange seal to pressure piece stop using 3382 right sealing ring installer.
^ Sealing ring must sit equally deep in housing at circumference.
^ Check and top off transmission fluid in rear final drive of automatic transmission.
^ Install right drive axle





Tightening torques
Right drive flange to transmission 25 Nm
heat shield to transmission 23 Nm
