Rear Suspension (FWD)


Shock absorbers/springs, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment





^ VAG1383 A engine/transmission jack

Removing

Note: To remove and install springs and shock absorbers, use engine/transmission jack VAG1383 with holder 135912.

^ Raise vehicle to installation height, taking tension off coil springs.





^ Remove bolt -2- on left and right, and lower engine and transmission jack.
^ Pull down rear axle, by second mechanic if necessary, and remove coil spring.
^ Unscrew bolt -1 - and remove shock absorber.

Installing
Installation is reverse of removal.
^ Replace all bolts and nuts.
^ Insert shock absorber in body and tighten to 45 Nm.
^ Pull down rear axle, by second mechanic if necessary, and install coil spring. Note installation position, item no. 4





^ Install bolt below, shock absorber to rear axle.
1. Self-locking nut
2. Hex bolt
3. Shock absorber

Screw connection between shock absorber and rear axle must be tightened when vehicle Is standing on Its wheels!
^ Tighten shock absorber to rear axle to 50 Nm plus additional 90°
