Steering Gear With Outer Steering Damper


Steering gear with outer steering damper
This overview is valid for both Left Hand Drive (LHD) and Right Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles.

Note:
^ Always replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
^ Welding or straighten work on any steering components is not permissible.
^ To grease the rack, only use steering gear grease AOF 063 000 04.
^ Hydraulic fluid: Part No. G 002 000





1. Tie rod end
^ Check dust caps for damage and proper seating
^ Version with and without ring, only new version available as replacement part
2. Hex-nut, tighten to 40 Nm.
3. Spring clip
^ Open using VAG1921
4. Boot Check for damage Must not be twisted after toe is adjusted
5. Clamp
^ Tighten using VAG 1275
^ Always replace
6. Sealing ring
^ Always replace
7. Inner tie rod ball joint, 100 Nm
^ Grease joint using steering gear grease AOF 063 000 04.
8. Bracket for steering damper
9. Sealing ring
^ Always replace
10. Dished washer
11. Clamp
^ Tighten using VAG 1275
^ Always replace
12. Boot
^ Check for damage
13. Power steering gear
^ Grease rack using steering gear grease AOF 063 000 04.
14. Hex-nut, tighten to 10 Nm.
^ To loosen and tighten, counterhold hex bolt on piston rod for steering damper.
15. Socket
16. Rubber bushing
^ Two-piece
17. Steering damper
18. Hex bolt, 35 Nm
19. Cylinder bolt, 13 Nm
^ Locking screw for centering steering
