Resetting Service Display using VAS 5051


Special tools, testers, measuring instruments and auxiliary items required
- Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 5051-
- Adapter cable -VAS 5051/3-
- Adapter -VAS 6017-

Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System, Connecting
- Apply parking brake.
- Automatic transmission: Move selector lever position "P" or "N".
- Manual transmission: Place selector lever into neutral.

- Apply hand brake.
- Automatic Transmission, Set selector lever in position "P�"
- Manual transmission: Set shift lever in neutral.

Connect -VAS 5051- vehicle as follows:





- Connect -VAS 5051- and the Adapter Cable -VAS 5051/3- and the Adapter -VAS 6017- with the ignition switched off.
- Switch printer on via the Print button (indicator lamp in button lights up).

- Switch ignition on

Indicated on display:





Mode of Operation, Selecting
- On the display, press the button for �Vehicle On-Board Diagnostics� -arrow-.

Note If the indications shown in the work procedure are not indicated on the display. Refer to User manual for VAS 5051 tester





Indicated on display:
Vehicle System, Selecting
- Press �17 - Instrument panel insert- -arrow- on the display.





Indicated on display:
Control module identification and the coding will be displayed -arrow-.
- Press the > button -1- on the display.





Indicated on display:
- Press -10 - Adaptation- -arrow- on the display.





Indicated on display:
- Press buttons 0 and 2 on the display number block -arrow-.

Reset the service display via adaptation channel -02-.

- Acknowledge the selection by pressing the Q button on the number pad of the display.





Indicated on display:
- Drag the cursor -arrow- on the display to the left, until -10- is indicated above the scroll bar.
- Press the Save button -2- on the display.





Indicated on display:
- Press the Transfer -arrow- button on the display.

Ending the Procedure





Indicated on display:
- Press the Go to -arrow- button on the display.





Indicated on display:
- Press the End -arrow- button on the display.
- Press the End button in the exit menu.
- Turn off ignition and disconnect diagnostic connection.

Note The -VAS 5051- must remain connected for checking the adaptation values and possibly also for emissions testing.

- Switch ignition on.

After turning on the ignition, no service will be indicated in the odometer display of the instrument panel insert.
