Removing
- Force piston out of brake caliper housing using compressed air.
Note: Place a wooden board into the recess of the caliper housing to catch the piston so it is not damaged.
- Remove seal.
- Use 3409 wedge for this.
Note: When removing, make sure that surface of cylinder is not damaged.
Installing
- Use only appropriate solvent to clean surfaces of piston and protective seal, then dry.
- Apply thin coat of brake cylinder paste G 052 150 A2 to piston and protective seal before installing.
- Using 3409 wedge, insert inner sealing ring into cylinder groove.
- Press in protective cap using special tools -1- and -2-.

Note: Use protective covers.
- Press protective cap onto caliper housing so that it makes contact all round.
- Pulling protective cap away from caliper housing by hand should no longer be possible.
- Thinly coat piston and sealing ring with assembly paste G 052 150 A2 before inserting.
- Pick up brake piston with normal commercial ratchet attachment and extension (as shown), and press lightly against protective cap.
Note: Keep piston straight while installing, to avoid damaging seal.
- Blow air into protective cap using a compressed air line (not more than 3 bar). Protective cap will spring over brake piston.
Note: Use protective covers.
- Push piston into brake caliper housing by hand.
Note: Inner sealing lip will spring into groove on piston when piston is installed.
