Front brake caliper piston, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment
^ 3409 wedge
^ G 052 150 A2 brake cylinder paste
^ T10145 piston resetting tool
Removing
- Force piston from brake caliper housing using compressed air.
Note: Place a wooden board into the recess of the caliper housing to catch the piston so it is not damaged.
- Remove seal.
- Use 3409 wedge for this.
Note: When removing, make sure that surface of cylinder is not damaged.
Installing
- Use only appropriate solvent to clean surfaces of piston and protective seal, then dry.
- Apply thin coat of brake cylinder paste G 052 150 A2 to piston and protective seal before installing.
- Place dust seal with outer sealing lip on piston.
- Using 3409 wedge, insert inner sealing lip into cylinder groove.
Note: Hold piston in front of caliper housing for this procedure.
- Press piston into brake caliper housing using piston resetting tool.
Note: Outer sealing lip will then engage in piston groove.
