Brake pedal, removing and installing

Special tools and equipment





^ T10006 Releasing tool
or





^ Release tool T40024

Removing
- Remove driver's side storage compartment.
- Remove brake light switch. On vehicles with cruise control system, also remove vent valve.

Disengaging brake pedal





Make sure brake light switch has been removed.
1. Inserting releasing tool -T10006
^ Thread tool in from bottom
2. Disengagement procedure
^ Hold brake pedal securely. Pry retaining tabs from ball head by tapping lightly on tool (arrow-A-)
^ Keep tension on tool so that retaining tabs do not re-engage at ball head
^ Pull brake pedal from ball head (arrow -B-)
Alternative, new release tool
T40024 can be used





- Separate the brake pedal from the brake servo using release tool T40024





- Remove retaining clip -1- from pivot pin -2-.
- Loosen socket-head screw -3- until it has exited insertion recess (arrow).
- Move pivot pin -2- to the left until brake pedal can be removed.
- Remove brake pedal.

Installing
Installation is reverse of removal, note the following:
- Do not tighten socket-head bolt -3- until the retaining disc has been placed on the pivot pin for clutch and brake pedals.
Adjusting brake light switch.
Adjusting vent valve for cruise control system.
