Foam-Filled Cavities



Foam-Filled Cavities

The following areas of the body are foam-filled for acoustic reasons:







Use the following foam D-000-111-A 2.

As an alternative, 2 component foam which does not absorb moisture can also be used.

A-pillar
a = Foam-filling hole
D-pillar







a = Foam-filling hole

The following areas of the body are foam-filled for improved stiffness:







Inner roof frame.

Running change implemented as of VIN W 006 000 for limousines and Avant.

The foam can be worked on mechanically by sawing, grinding and drilling.

The foam can be removed with a scraper if it is heated to 500 degrees C. This procedure should be repeated several times.

Wear a mask and use a fume extractor.

A = Protective cover in roof frame.
B = Protective cover in B-pillar.
C = Position of foam

Apply foam in the following sequence:







1. Foam-filling hole: 500 ml. epoxy resin foam
2. Protective cover for B-pillar (top).
3. Foam-filling hole: 50 ml. epoxy resin foam
4. Foam-filling hole: 270 ml. epoxy resin foam
5. Foam-filling hole: 250 ml. epoxy resin foam
6. Foam-filling hole: 120 ml. epoxy resin foam
