Molded Headliner and Sun Visors (Avant), Removing And Installing

WARNING: Observe the safety precautions for working on side curtain airbag.

NOTE: Removing and installing A-pillar trim for vehicles with and without side curtain airbag is the same.







1 - Molded headliner

Removing:
- Remove upper A-pillar trim.
- Detach wiring harness to molded headliner between A-pillar and instrument panel on left side.
- Remove intermediate piece at B-pillar trim.







- Remove roof frame trim.
- Remove upper D-pillar trim.
- Remove roof frame trim.
- Detach connector if interior mirror is of automatic anti-glare type.
- Remove sun visors - 7 -.
- Remove holders - 5 - for sun visors.
- On models with sunroof, pry out frame trim - 4 -.
- Remove cover for molded headliner cutout and reading lamp Fig. 1.
- On models with sunroof: Remove screws - 10 - (3x).
- On models without sunroof: Remove screws - 10 - (2x)
- Tilt backrest of passenger seat as far back as possible.
- Tilt backrest of driver's seat as far back as possible.
- A second person is required to support the molded headliner.







- Detach Velcro fasteners at cut-out for rear interior light Fig. 2.
- Unclip molded headliner at the rear.
- To detach wiring from molded headliner, get out of the vehicle and carefully lower molded headliner onto seats.
- Detach wiring harness from molded headliner.
- Remove molded headliner through tailgate.

Installing
- Carefully insert molded headliner through tailgate.
- Attach wiring harness to molded headliner.

NOTE: Make sure to follow installation sequence, otherwise roof trim cannot be centered.

- Attach molded headliner at rear.
- Clip in holders for sun visors.
- Clip in frame trim - 4 - for sunroof.
- Carry out remainder of installation in reverse order of removal.

4 - Frame trim for sliding roof
- Pry out at markings - 3 -.
5 - Sun visor holder
- Press holder for sun visor firmly to one side and pull out.
6 - Cap
7 - Sun visor
- Unclip sun visor - 7 - from holder - 4 -, unclip cap - 8 - and remove screw - 9 -.
8 - Cap
9 - Screw
10 - Screw
- Tightening torque: 2.5 Nm (22 in lb)

- Pry out cover for interior light - 3 - at locations - 5 -.

- Detach bars - 1 - (2x) from Velcro fasteners - 2 - (2x) at cut-out for rear interior light.

- Molded headliner removed
- Cut out frame for molded headliner - 1 - at screw - 2 - (line - 4 -).
- Remove screw - 2 -.
- Carefully open sheet metal bracket - 3 - and remove center sun visor.
