Tripod joint AAR 3300 i, disassembling

Removing
- Clamp drive axle horizontally into vise.

Note:
^ Use protective jaws.
^ Make sure the drive axle is not damaged.

- Mark position of joint piece to drive axle.
If they are not marked and are not re-installed in their previously installed positions, noises may occur later during driving operation.
A water-proof felt pen is well-suited for marking.





- Open tensioning clamps (arrows).
- Slide back CV boot.
- Insert T40018 special tool behind joint piece
Guide pin -1- must make contact with exterior of joint piece.





- Turn knurled bolts -2- at joint piece until T40018 special tool makes contact.

Note:
^ Joint piece must be secured in T40018 special tool without play.
^ Tighten bolts -2- by hand





- Thread VW771 special tool into T40018 special tool.
- Pull off joint piece horizontally using slide hammer.
Leave joint piece in T40018 special tool.





- Mark installation position of parts 1 and 2 with lines.
If they are not marked and are not re-installed in their previously installed positions, noises may occur later during driving operation.
A water-proof felt pen is well-suited for marking.
1- Drive axle
2- Tripod connection
- Remove grease with a lint-free rag.





- Remove securing ring.
1- Pliers (commercially available)
- Remove securing ring.





- Press tripod connection off drive axle.
T10065/4 special tool must not protrude on roller body
- Remove CV boot.
- Remove grease at splines of shaft.
- Check rollers and track for wear.
- Clean shaft and housing.
