Tripod joint AAR 3300 i, assembling
Installation
- Slide new CV boot onto shaft.
- Press on securing ring -1- up to center of splines
Use special tools shown in illustration.
Instead of using T10065/2 special tool, T10065/3 special tool must be used, depending on the version.
Press tripod star onto drive axle
Chamfer on star faces toward shaft, it facilitates assembly.
- Place tripod connections on shaft according to markings and drive fully on.
This procedure is only valid for drive axles with a conical shape at the end (arrow)
Use special tools shown in illustration.
T10065/2 special tool must not protrude on roller body

Use special tools shown in illustration.
T10065/3 special tool must not protrude on roller body
- Press tripod star onto drive axle.
- Securing ring must engage audibly, tripod star must contact securing ring gap-free.
- Install securing ring.
1- Pliers (commercially available)
- Press 70 grams of G 000 605 drive axle grease from repair set into back of triple roller joint.
- Lightly grease roller body.
Make sure roller bodies do not tilt.
- Press joint piece over tripod star using a plastic mallet.
- Press remaining amount of grease into CV boot.
Note:
^ Make sure boot is properly seated on joint piece.
^ Boot must make contact in the groove and the contour of the joint piece.
- Position joint piece in center position. See min - max position.
Note: Ventilate C V boot, e.g. using a screwdriver, while positioning joint piece in center position (arrow).
- Mount clamp.
Note: Position the crimping tab -2- of the clamp between mounting flanges -1- of joint piece. This will facilitate threading the socket head bolts during installation of the drive axle
- Tighten small clamp using VAG1275 pliers.
