Tripod joint, disassembling
- Clamp drive axle into vise

Note: Use protective jaws!

- Open clamp at shaft and slide back CV boot.





- Bend open metal tabs with a flat tip screwdriver and pry off cover.





- Mark installation position of parts -1-, -2- and -3- with lines.
If they are not marked and are not re-installed in their previously installed positions, noises may occur later during driving operation.
A water-proof felt pen is well-suited for marking.

- Remove round seal (arrow) from groove.
- Secure joint piece and remove drive axle from vise.
- Remove securing ring
- If damaged, remove CV boot with scissors, for example. Otherwise pull it carefully backward.
- Insert drive axle in vise.





- Secure drive axle then press off tripod connection from drive axle.
Make sure that the rollers press off without resistance.
- Remove tripod connection with rollers and set aside on a clean surface.
- Pull off joint piece from shaft.
- Pull off CV boot from shaft.
- Clean shaft, joint piece and groove for oil seal.
