Outer CV joint, servicing

Disassembling outer constant velocity joint
- Clamp drive axle in vise with protective pads.
- Take off clamp and push back boot.





- Screw special tool with M16 / M14 thread into joint bolt hole until Constant Velocity (CV) joint is pressed off drive axle.
- Remove securing ring

Installing outer constant velocity joint
- Slide CV boot onto shaft.
CV boot and seating of boot on drive axle must be free of grease.
- Install a new circlip
Always replace circlip (engaging ring)
- Put 50 grams of drive axle grease into interior of joint piece.
- Thread old drive axle bolt into joint piece as shown.





- Drive joint onto shaft using plastic hammer, until securing ring engages.
- Put 40 grams of drive axle grease into joint on lining side.
- Grease outer constant velocity joint
- Ventilate CV boot briefly to equalize pressure.
- Tighten clamp
