SAC Clutch Pressure Plate Adjuster Ring, Resetting
SAC clutch pressure plate adjuster ring, resetting
SAC stands for self-adjusting clutch.
When installing a new clutch plate with a used SAC pressure plate, the pressure plate adjuster ring must be turned back to the limit stop. If the pressure plate adjuster ring is not turned back, the SAC pressure plate functions at a reduced pressure, resulting in increased wear of the clutch and in particular of the clutch plate (clutch slips).
If the clutch plate is not replaced, the adjuster ring does not require resetting.
New SAC pressure plates are pre-set and consequently do not require resetting.
^ Insert 3 pressure plate securing bolts -A- in the fixing holes of the pressure plate at a 120° offset (1/3 turn) as indicated in the illustration.
^ Screw 3 nuts -B- (M8) onto bolts -A-and tighten slightly.
^ Position SAC pressure plate on the pressing tool in such a way that only the 3 bolt heads rest upon it.
^ Center special tool 3062 on the center of the pressure plate.
^ Position two screwdrivers at the adjuster ring. Press against the pressure plate with the pressing tool until the adjuster ring can just be moved.
^ Turn the adjuster ring evenly using both screwdrivers in direction of arrow until it reaches the limit stop -arrow A-.
^ Hold the adjuster ring at the stop while reducing the pressure of the pressing tool so that the adjuster ring remains in position.
