Clutch With SAC Pressure Plate

Clutch with SAC pressure plate





- Remove transmission to work on clutch.

1 - Dual-mass flywheel
^ Make sure that centering pins are a tight fit.
^ Contact surface for clutch lining must be free of grooves, oil and grease
^ Removing and installing

2 - Needle bearing
^ Driving off and on
3 - Bolt for flywheel
^ Always replace
^ Screw length 43 mm 60 Nm plus additional 180° turn
^ Screw length 22.5 mm 60 Nm plus additional 90° turn
4 - Clutch plate
^ Installation position:
- Clutch lining must make full contact with flywheel
- Marking Getriebeseite (if present) goes toward pressure plate and transmission
- Spring pack (coil springs) toward pressure plate and transmission
^ Centering
^ Do not grease
^ Clutch plate diameter
5 - SAC pressure plate
^ Resetting adjuster ring
^ Removing and installing
^ Check ends of diaphragm spring
^ Check spring connection and riveted fastenings
6 - Bolt, 25 Nm
^ Tighten in small stages and in diagonal sequence

Notes:
^ The SAC pressure plate adjuster ring must be turned back prior to installation when the clutch plate is replaced exclusively.
^ The clutch plate fining and the contact surface of the pressure plate must make full contact with the flywheel before the securing bolts are inserted.
^ Tighten securing bolts evenly and in diagonal sequence in small steps to avoid damaging centering holes in pressure plate and centering pins on flywheel.

- Installation position of clutch plate: spring pack (coil springs) or marking Getriebeseite toward pressure plate and transmission.
- Loosen and tighten bolts gradually in several stages working diagonally. Tightening torque: 25 Nm.
- Re-position Retainer 10-201 when removing.
- Use mandrel 3176 to center clutch plate.

^ Wear up to half the thickness of the diaphragm spring is permitted.

Note: When performing repairs always match up clutch pressure plate and clutch plate by checking engine code (see Parts Catalog).
