Shock Absorber Noise

Shock absorber noise

Shock absorbers are often replaced on the basis of complaints about knocking noises. Test bench and on-the-vehicle studies have revealed that in some 70% of cases the complaints received were not justified and there was no need for replacement.

Proceed as follows in the event of complaints interpreted as being knocking or creaking noise.

- Perform test drive (if at all possible on a dry, uneven surface) together with customer to establish where, when and in what form the noise becomes apparent.

Note: The shock absorber is hardly ever the cause of the noise.
