Climate Control Exhaust Gas Sensor: Service and Repair




Sensor For Air Quality -G238-, Removing And Installing

NOTE:








- The Sensor for air quality -G238- is a highly sensitive electronic component that can be damaged if it comes in direct contact with solvents, fuels or chemicals (e.g. impurities may enter through area -A-).
- Do not install sensors that were previously improperly stored (e.g. in tool boxes etc.).
- Do not store removed sensors in areas that are contaminated with solvents, fuels and certain other chemicals (fluids or gases).
- The sensor for air quality is in different housings, version "1" was installed at beginning of production. This sensor was replaced in a running change to version "2", however it has the same function.

Removing and installing
- Remove plenum cover.

Version "1"







- Disconnect harness connector -A- from sensor.
- Remove bolt -B-and remove sensor.

Terminal assignment in connector -A-







1 - B+ (terminal "15")
2 - Minus (terminal "31")
3 - Signal wire to A/C Control Head -E87- (square wave signal cannot be measured)
4 - not assigned

Version "2"







- Disconnect harness connector -A- from sensor.
- Disengage locking mechanism -B- and push sensor -C- down.

Terminal assignment in connector -A-
1 - B+ (Terminal "15")
2 - Minus (Terminal "31")
3 - Signal wire to A/C-control head -E87- (square wave signal cannot be measured)
