Front Passenger Airbag, Assembly Overview

CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for working on airbag.







1 - Passengers airbag unit
- Removing
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Remove glove compartment.
- Disconnect connector behind airbag unit.

CAUTION: Never unplug connector - 5 - (2-pin) at front passengers airbag unit.

- Remove brace - 7 -.
- Remove supports - 2 - behind airbag unit.
- Remove nut - 3 - (4x).
- Remove airbag unit.
- Put airbag unit down with impact cushion facing upward.
- Installing
- Install airbag unit.
- Ensure connector behind airbag unit engages properly (audibly)
- Switch ignition on.

CAUTION: There must be no one in the vehicle when the battery is being connected.

- Connect battery Ground (GND) strap.
2 - Support
- Must be replaced after airbag triggering.
- Remove front passengers airbag unit.
- Remove bolts - 4 - (4x).
3 - Nut (4x)
- Must be replaced after airbag triggering
- Tightening torque 9 Nm
4 - Bolts (4x)
- Must be replaced after airbag triggering
- Tightening torque 9 Nm
5 - Connector
6 - Frame for airbag unit
- Must be replaced after airbag triggering
- Remove front passengers airbag unit.
7 - Brace







Disconnecting airbag connector







- Press release - A - and disconnect connector in direction of - arrow -.
1 - Retainer for connector

NOTE:
- After connecting the battery observe the necessary measures.
- If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K75 signals a malfunction after assembly, use vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 A to interrogate, erase and then interrogate again DTC memory.
