^ Universal dial indicator holder VW 387
^ Dial indicator





Test sequence
^ Insert valve into valve guide. Valve stem end must be flush with guide. Due to slight difference in stem diameters, ensure that only an intake valve is used in intake guide and an exhaust valve in exhaust guide.
^ Measure lateral play.





Wear limit

Notes:
^ If wear limit is exceeded, repeat measurement with new valve. If wear limit is again exceeded, replace valve guide.
^ If valve is to be replaced as part of a repair, use a new valve for calculation.
