Body - Buffeting Noise In Cabin Over 60 MPH

61 08 10

2014244/2

December 1, 2008.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 61 number 07-06 dated March 11, 2007 for reasons listed below.

Affected Vehicles

61 Buffeting noise in cabin over 60 mph

Condition

Buffeting or rhythmic pressure waves are heard in the cabin over 60 mph.

Technical Background

At speeds of 60 mph or greater there is a propensity for the convertible top fabric to vibrate. This can be made more evident when this speed is accompanied by a strong head wind. These vibrations of the top fabric create minor pressure waves which are transferred into the passenger compartment. In order for the convertible top to be capable of being lowered into the storage bay, it is not technically possible to attach the top fabric to the frame such that all movement is eliminated. Therefore, noises created under the conditions specified in this TSB are normal.

Production Solution

No change. This is a normal condition.

Service

Do not perform repairs for this condition.

Warranty

This TSB is informational only and not applicable to any Audi warranty.
