Instrument Panel Central Tube, Removing And Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required







- Pry bar 80-200

- Removing
- Remove instrument panel.
- Remove instrument panel center section.







- Remove bolts - 1 - (2x) from fuse carrier - 2 -. Tightening torque 3 Nm
- Lay the fuse carrier with attached wiring downward.
- Disconnect wiring harness from instrument panel subframe and set aside.







- Unscrew bolts - 1 - (2x) of 3 - position relay carrier - 2 -. Tightening torque 3 Nm
- Remove nuts - 3 - (2x) of 6 - position relay carrier - 4 - on vehicles electrical system control unit. Tightening torque 2.4 Nm
- Lay the relay carrier with attached wiring downward.
- Disconnect wiring harness behind relay carriers from central tube and set aside.







- Remove bolt - 2 - of pedal bracket. Tightening torque 23 Nm
- Remove bolts - 1 - (4x). Tightening torque 22 Nm
- Lay steering column down in drivers footwell.







- Remove bolts - 1 - (4x) of left support. Tightening torque 9 Nm
- Remove bolt - 2 -. Tightening torque 8 Nm

NOTE: If support does not have to be removed, simply loosen bolt - 3 - and swing support downward.

- Loosen or remove bolt - 3 - (front attachment of support to air conditioner unit). Tightening torque 8 Nm
- Remove support or swing downward.







- Remove bolts - 1 - (4x). Tightening torque 9 Nm
- Lay wiring aside - 2 -.
- Remove right support.







- Remove bolts - 1 - (2x) of air conditioner unit bracket. Tightening torque 9 Nm







- Using a screwdriver pry off both trim caps - 3 -.
- Loosen the hex nuts - 4 - a few turns.
- Remove wiper arms - 2 - from the pivot shaft by tilting them slightly.
- Remove hex nuts completely and remove wiper arms.
- Remove retaining clips - 1 - and remove air cowl grille - 5 -.







- Remove cover for electronics box (plenum chamber) - arrow -.







- Using a screwdriver, carefully lever off retainer - arrow - and place engine control module with connected wiring on one side.
- Unclip retaining clip.
- If present, place transmission control module with connected wiring on one side.







- Remove bolts - 2 - (2x) of connector point. Tightening torque 3 Nm
- In plenum chamber, remove bolt - 1 - from instrument panel central tube. Tightening torque 6 Nm







- Remove nuts - 1 - (2x) on left. Tightening torque 35 Nm
- Remove bolt - 3 - at top. Tightening torque 6 Nm
- Remove Ground (GND) wires - 2 -.






- Remove nut - 2 - on right. Tightening torque 35 Nm
- Remove bolt - 3 - at top. Tightening torque 6 Nm
- Remove Ground (GND) wires - 1 -.
- Pull instrument panel central tube a few mm forward.







- Using a small screwdriver pull out pins - 2 - (2x) upwards as far possible.
- Set electrical wiring harness aside behind vent.
- Remove air duct - arrow - upward.
- Remove Ground (GND) wires - 1 -.






- Disconnect wiring harness behind instrument panel central tube from instrument panel central tube - arrows -...







- ....Pry bar 80-200
- Remove instrument panel central tube.
