Basic Setting (Function 04)

With ignition on and engine at standstill, the following operations can be performed using basic setting
- Adaptation of throttle valve control module to ECM.
- Vehicles with automatic transmission: Adaptation of kick down function of accelerator pedal position sensor to ECM, Display group 63, Refer to "Kick Down Function, Learning" Testing and Inspection

With ignition on and engine running, the following operations can be performed using basic setting
- Adaptation of oxygen sensor control, Refer to "Oxygen Sensor and Oxygen Sensor Control Before Catalytic Converter, Checking"
- Troubleshooting via targeted activation and deactivation of oxygen sensor control, Refer to "Oxygen Sensor Aging, Oxygen Sensor Before Catalytic Converter, Checking"

Test requirements for operations with engine running
- No DTCs in DTC memory.
- Coolant Temperature less than 80 °C
- Electrical consumers switched off (radiator fan must NOT run during test).
- A/C switched off.

Test sequence
- Connect VAS5051 tester or VAG 1551 scan tool and select control module for engine electronics using "address word" 01. Engine must run at idle for this.
- DTC memory checking and erasing.
- Let engine continue to run at idle.

Example
- Press buttons "000" for "display group number 000" and press Q button to confirm input.


NOTE: After selecting display group number, the AKF valve is closed and A/C compressor switched off.

- For display group number 000, measured values are displayed as a decimal.
- With printer switched on, current display can be printed out.
- To switch to a different display group, proceed as follows:
