WARNING:
^ Airbags and related equipment (e.g. steering wheel) must only be disassembled, assembled and repaired by trained Audi Service Department personnel.
^ Before working on any airbag, steering wheel or steering column components, first always disconnect the battery.
^ After the battery and airbag power supply have been disconnected, make sure that the front wheels face straight ahead when the steering wheel is removed /to ensure that the airbag spiral spring will not be damaged).
^ Make sure that no person is in the vehicle when connecting the battery Ground strap.
CAUTION:
^ Before working on any part of the electrical system
Determine the correct coding for the anti-theft radio.
Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.
^ Removing and installing airbag, refer to Airbags and Seatbelts.
The sport steering wheel with airbag can be installed on production vehicles. The steering wheel, airbag, and plate must all be ordered and installed. The sticker with expiration date must be removed from the new airbag and placed on the lower part of the driver's-side B-pillar.
1. Torx (r) bolts (T20)
- Tighten to: 5 Nm (44 in. lb)
2. Airbag harness connector
3. Airbag unit
4. Hex nut
- Tighten to: 40 Nm (30 ft lb)
5. Mounting bolts
- Tighten to: 5 Nm (44 in. lb)
6. Airbag Torx (r) T30 mounting screw
- Tighten to: 6 Nm (53 in. lb)
