Tachometer: Testing and Inspection

Engine speed (RPM) signal, checking

- Remove instrument cluster. Service and Repair
- Disconnect yellow 26-pin harness connector from instrument cluster.
- Connect VAG 1598/4 adapter between yellow 26-pin harness connector and instrument cluster.
- Connect adapter to VAG 1598 test box.
- Set digital multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to AC Volt measuring range.
- Connect multimeter between test box sockets 8 and 22.
- Start engine.
Specification: 7 volts, depending upon engine speed (RPM)
