Temperature Warning Lamp/Indicator: Testing and Inspection
Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) warning light/symbol, checkingElectronic thermoswitch connections
+ voltage supply, terminal 15a
C to overheat warning lamp
R to A/C control unit
T to coolant temperature gauge
- Disconnect ECT thermal switch connector, located on the coolant line behind the right-side cylinder head.
- Connect thermal switch connector terminal C to Ground (GND), using VW1 594 connector test kit.
- Start engine.
- ECT warning light symbol must be displayed (flashing).
If specification is not met:
- Check wiring for open circuit according to wiring diagram, and repair as necessary.
- Check bulb (1.2W), and replace if necessary.
If warning light checks OK:
- Check Mini Check display unit.
