With VAG 1551 Scan Tool

Initializing Tester
1. Switch ignition on.





- Indicated on display (Operating modes 1 and 2 are displayed alternately)

NOTE:
^ Press the "HELP" button for additional information.
^ Press the (arrow) button to advance through the OBD program.
^ Press the "PRINT" button to switch on the scan tool printer (indicator light in button comes on).

2. Press -1- button to select "Rapid data transfer" operating mode 1.

3. Press buttons -0- and -3- to insert "Brake Electronics" address word 03.

4. Press -Q- button to confirm input.

NOTE: For ABS control module applications, refer to parts supplier.

5. Depending on the resulting display, proceed as indicated below:





a. If above is indicated on display, proceed as follows:
- Function 02: Check DTC memory. Checking Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Memory
- Function 05: Erase DTC memory. Erase DTC Memory
- function 06: End output. End Output
- Read Measuring Value Block. Read Measuring Value Block





b. If above is indicated on display:
- Press "HELP" button to print list of possible causes.
- Follow specific recommendations below.








c. If either of the above is indicated on display, check OBD "L" and "K" wire connections, refer to wiring diagrams.





d. If the above is indicated on display:
- Check power supply and ground connections for ABS control module according to wiring diagram.
- After correcting possible malfunctions, once again insert "Brake Electronics" address word 03 and press -Q- button to confirm input.





e. If the above is indicated on display check wiring. Testing If Scan Tool Displays "Error In Communications Link"
