DTC 16826
NOTE: With this diagnosis, the EVAP system is checked for leaks. To do this, the EVAP system is first pumped for a defined period of time (approx. 35 sec.) with the leak detection pump. Then the Engine Control Module (ECM) uses an electrical reed contact to measure how quickly the pressure in the EVAP system drops and/or how long the individual pump phases last. The length of the measuring time is a measure of the leakage. Measuring times between 1.2 and 1.5 sec. indicate a small leak. If there is a large leak, the measuring times are less than 1.2 sec. If the vehicle is OK (eg. after repair), the measuring times must be greater than 5 sec.
