Sunroof Motor Removing and Installing


Sunroof Motor and Drive Assembly, Removing and Installing

Removing:






- Unscrew cover and pull forward out of retaining tabs.

- Disconnect electrical connectors for electric motor.






- Remove screws for drive assembly.

Make sure that the washer (between sunroof motor and roof) for screw -5- is also removed.

- Disengage water drain plate and slide toward rear.






- Remove fasteners (arrows).

- Pull water drain plate far enough forward so that it does not hit roof during removal of subassembly.

- Lift subassembly at front and pull out of sunroof opening.


CAUTION!
The front guide is "automatically" offset and pretensioned when installed and, as a result, one end of the guide rail Is higher. Under no circumstances should this be adjusted!



Installing:






- Make sure felt backings are installed:

- Dimension -A- = 55 x 25 mm (2 5/32 x 1 in.)
- Dimension -C- = 15 x 30 mm (19/32 x 1-3/16 in.)
- Dimension -B- = 50 x 35mm (1-31/32 x 1-3/8 in.)
- Dimension -a- = 20 mm (25/32 in.)


- Adjust parallel running of rear guides and roof panel.

- Check "Neutral" position of cable drive; adjust if necessary.


- Lock cable drive threaded fasteners using AMV 197 000.01 thread locking compound.


Tightening sequence:






- Tighten screws -4- then screw -5-.

Tightening torque: 3 Nm (27 in. lb.)


Note: If the fasteners are not tightened in the specified sequence, the drive assembly will be noisy in operation.
