Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

FRONT (CAMSHAFT DRIVE BELT SIDE)
- Remove toothed belt, refer to Timing Components, Timing Belt, Service and Repair Service and Repair
- Remove toothed belt sprocket from crankshaft.





- Pull out oil seal using seal remover 3203.
- Clean running and sealing surfaces.
- Lightly lubricate sealing lip and outer edge of seal with engine oil before pressing in.

NOTE:
^ The seal design has a pump function that moves oil back into the housing.
^ Using grease to lubricate the seal can defeat this function, causing oil leakage.
^ Use engine oil only.

- Slide oil seal over installing sleeve 3202 (not shown).





- Press in oil seal flush with housing, using seal installer 3265 and crankshaft center bolt.
