Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair

Component Notes And Information

NOTE: Before installing components, grease all contact surfaces with white grease, part No. AOS 126 000 05, or equivalent.

1 Handle
- Slide onto parking brake lever until tab on lever engages in handle
2 Cover
- Slide onto parking brake lever
3 Parking Brake Lever
- Supplied as a complete assembly with pull rod, lock knob, push rod, compression spring and locking mechanism.
4 Circlip
- Always replace
- Make sure of correct fit
5 Mount
6 Leaf Spring
- Install in bracket
7 Pin
- Install in balance bar
- Install pull rod through holes
8 Adjusting Nut (Self Locking)
- Always check basic adjustment. Adjustments
9 Bushing
- Slide onto pull rod
10 Balance Bar
11 Mounting Pin
12 Boot
- Make sure of correct fit

Procedures
Removal
1. Unclip cover with screwdriver





2. Remove screw (arrow)
3. Remove rear seat ash tray





4. Remove both screws (arrows)
5. Remove rear center console, refer to Body and Frame.
6. Remove rear exhaust system heat shield to access adjusting nut





7. Remove adjusting nut
- Use a suitable 10 mm deepwell socket wit a flexible extension
8. Remove balance bar
9. Remove boot





10. Remove circlip (arrow)
11. Press out mounting pin
12. Push parking brake lever back slightly and remove

Installation
- Reverse procedure to install
- Adjust the parking brake. Adjustments
