Rear Brake Basic Setting
NOTE: Parking brake cable must be free of tension during basic setting check.Rear Brake Caliper:
1. Push caliper brake lever with screwdriver against stop on left and right sides.
Rear Caliper Lever Stop:
- Cable is too tight if lever of opposite side caliper is pulled away from stop.
Parking Brake Adjusting Nut:
2. If cable is too tight, loosen adjusting nut until both caliper brake levers rest against stops.
Rear Brake Spring And Roller:
3. Insert screwdriver between the end of the rear spring and the roller.
4. Apply the brake pedal using an equal force approximately 40 times with the vehicle stationary.
CAUTION:
On 1988 vehicles with 38 mm rear calipers, the brake pedal should be activated only ONCE, instead of 40 times.
5. Remove screwdriver.
6. Check that both rear wheels rotate freely.
