Strut Unit Replace

QUATTRO COUPE & QUATTRO TURBO

1. Loosen wheel bolts.
2. Remove axle nut cover, then the axle nut.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Remove wheel bolts and wheel.
5. Press off tie rod end using suitable tool.
6. Remove caliper attaching bolts.
7. Disconnect brake hose at bracket.
8. Remove caliper and tie out of way, leaving brake lines attached.
9. Remove brake disc.
10. Remove ball joint clamp bolt.
11. Pry ball joint out of hub.
12. Press out stub axle from hub.
13. Remove fuel tank cover.
14. Remove sunroof storage holder.
15. Remove strut attaching nut, holding suspension strut from below to keep from falling, then remove suspension strut assembly.
16. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply bead of suitable locking compound approximately 3/16 inch wide around splines and allow to harden for at least one hour.
b. Install stub axle.
c. Torque tie rod nut and suspension strut to body attaching nut to 43 ft.lbs., ball joint clamp nut and brake caliper mounting bolts to 47 ft.lbs., wheel bolts to 80 ft.lbs., and the axle nut to 203 ft.lbs.
