Condition:

With ignition ON, instrument panel lights do not work when parking lights or headlights are switched ON.

or

Instrument panel lights work with ignition OFF, but go out shortly after ignition is switched ON.


Production:

Instrument panel lighting control is affected by the operation of the license plate lights. Inoperative license plate lights create feedback through the instrument panel light booster and cause the instrument panel lights to malfunction.


Service Solution:

Check operation of each license plate bulb. Inoperative bulbs may be caused by high resistance (loose connections or corrosion) in the bulb sockets, open circuits in wiring and/or burnt-out bulbs. Repair as necessary and/or replace license plate bulbs.
