Models W/Girling Caliper
CAUTION:
With this procedure brake fluid is pushed into reservoir. To prevent overflowing, siphon some fluid out with an appliance which is used for this purpose only.
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
2. Pull plug connector out of clip, then press connector on knurled surface to separate.
Front Caliper Mounting:
3. Remove lower caliper mounting bolt, holding guide pin with open end wrench.
Girling Front Caliper:
4. Swing caliper up and lift out pads.
5. Bottom piston in caliper housing.
6. Install brake pad and heat shield with shield facing piston.
7. Swing caliper down and install new lower self locking mounting bolts. Torque bolts to 35 Nm (26 ft.lbs.) while holding guide pin with open end wrench.
8. Connect plug connector and attach to retaining clip.
9. Fill brake fluid reservoir to maximum mark.
10. Upon reassembly after heat protection plate replacement, depress brake pedal firmly several times while vehicle is stationary to permit piston and brake pads to adjust to disc.
11. Recheck brake fluid level, add if necessary.
NOTE:
Disconnect brake hoses only when replacing or servicing calipers. When detaching but not removing brake calipers, do not remove hoses. Hang calipers on frame.
