Ignition Power Stage: Testing and Inspection

Ignition coil power stage, checking
Work sequence

Note Check blue connecting wire and insulation from terminal 1 of ignition coil to switch module for any damage or corrosion. Repair if necessary.





- Connect coil wire to ground with jumper wire





- Unplug connector from power stage (arrow) more





- Connect voltmeter between terminal 1 of unplugged connector (green/white wire) and ground
- Ground terminal 2 of unplugged connector with jumper wire

CAUTION: Be sure test lead connections are correct. If connections are reversed, engine control unit may be damaged.

- Crank engine with starter
^ Specification: min. 0.2 V

If specification NOT OK
- Check wiring between switch module and control unit connectors as follows
- Remove control unit cover panel located on passenger side footwell
- Unplug control unit connector





- Using ohmmeter, check between terminals of switch module connector and terminals of control unit connector A
^ Terminals of switch module connector (1) and control unit connector A terminal (22)
^ Terminals of switch module connector (2) and control unit connector A terminal (2)
^ Specifications: approx. 0 ohm

If specifications NOT OK
- Check for open circuit in wiring between control unit and switch module

If specifications still NOT OK
- Replace control unit
