Channel 8 & 9 - Temperature Flap Operation
Channel 8 and 9 can be used to check the operation of the temperature regulation flaps (blend doors) in the heater housing.
This check cannot be made when the temperature flaps are in the maximum heating or cooling position.
To check temperature flap operation:
- Start vehicle and run for several minutes to stabilize interior temperature. (Interior temperature should be between 65° to 85°F)
- Set control panel to AUTO 72°F
- Press the OFF button while pressing the OUTSIDE TEMP button.
- Press the WARMER button until '08 is displayed.
- Press the COOLER button to display the information from channel 8.
- Record the displayed value.
- Press the WARMER button to advance to channel 9 ('69 is displayed)
- Press the COOLER button to display the information from channel 9.
^ The difference between channel 8 value and channel 9 should not be greater than 7
- Repeat this procedure with control panel set at AUTO 70°F and then 80°F.
- If values between channel 8 and channel 9 differ more than 7 check:
^ Temperature cable adjustment
^ Programmer and programmer wiring
Channel 8 = The actual position of the programmer motor displayed in a numerical value.
Channel 9 = The value specified for the programmer motor by the control head.
