Muffler HVAC: Description and Operation

Operation and Location
A muffler is installed between the compressor and condenser. The muffler acts as a pressure damper to reduce pressure surges when the compressor cycles. This helps reduce noise and the feeling of power loss.


A high pressure switch is located just after the muffler. This switches the second speed of the radiator fan on when pressure reaches about 200 PSI to help keep high side pressure within limits.
