Purpose and Operation
The thermostat is used to control refrigerant flow to the evaporator. The thermostat has a capillary tube which is inserted into the evaporator and senses evaporator temperature. The compressor clutch is cycled on and off by the thermostat in order to control refrigerant flow and thereby controls evaporator temperature.
